Lago Vista

Lago Vista is an outdoor enthusiasts dream.

Lago Vista started out in the early 1960s as a resort community where boating, hiking and all things nature were the main attractions. Located on the shores of Lake Travis, summer homes sprang up and residents spent fun filled weekends and holidays enjoying the area and the Lake. In the 1980s the community voted to incorporate. At that time there were approximately 2,200 residents, today there are over 5,000 happy people living in Lago Vista.

Lago Vista has its own school district, Lago Vista Independent School District. The district provides education to over 1,000 students at three area campuses. The district, its schools and its parents have formed a tight knit group and rely on each others input to produce well rounded students. These students receive the best possible school experience that revolves around education but has added the necessary extras in the form of sports and extracurricular activities that make school fun. The district continually produces children who score well in state and national testing and are well prepared for the future once they graduate from high school.

The community of Lago Vista is very civic minded and the look and feel of the community as well as the environmental impact of new projects is considered carefully before any project is approved. The area is eye pleasing and homes seem to fit naturally into the landscape. You'll find an abundance of large trees that lend the community a very natural feel. The area boasts homes ranging from those built in the 1960s as summer homes to homes built today to house a family full time. The community has several shopping centers that provide shopping and restaurants and with Austin just a short drive away, entertainment music and fine dining are never out of reach.

In Lago Vista you'll find retirees along with families just starting out. Residents here are a diverse group but they all seem to have one thing in common preserving nature in and around the community. Lago Vista is teaming with wildlife. Bird watching is a popular pastime for some residents while others prefer the lake and all the activities it offers. Hiking the hillsides and exploring is another popular pastime in Lago Vista and the area is perfect for an hour or two of hiking or a day long excursion. Lago Vista is an outdoor enthusiasts dream.
